Each job in the U.S. Military is given a code

	Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) in the Army and Marine Corps
	Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC), or Rating in the Navy
	Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) in the Air Force

Every MOS/Rating/AFSC has different ASVAB score requirements

You already learned the 9 subtests of the ASVAB:

Line Scores

After you take the ASVAB, the branch of the military that you plan to join translates your results into calculations known as “Line Scores.” The line scores help that branch of the military know which jobs you qualify for. They are broken down into: clerical, electronics, general technical, mechanical maintenance and skilled technical.

The next four sections of this course show you the military jobs (MOSs/Ratings/AFSCs) in each branch, and the line scores that are needed to qualify for those jobs.

ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP)

High school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 and those enrolled at post-secondary institutions can participate in the ASVAB CEP. Students in 11th grade and beyond receive valid scores for enlistment. The ASVAB may be given in paper and pencil or computer adaptive forms. There are different strategies for taking the ASVAB, depending on which one you take.

ASVAB CEP test results are sent to schools so participants can explore career options with counselors. The scores report how the student performed on each subtest area, and how their scores compare with others who took the test. Participants receive three composite scores in verbal, math and science/technical skills used for career exploration, and the AFQT score is also reported.
